Race Direction – Classification Centre – Notice Board
The Classification Centre is located at the Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz.
Drivers’ Briefing
The Race Manager’s briefing will be delivered exclusively in written form and attached to the Roadbook; the Race Manager will be available during scrutineering and at the Race Direction for any clarification.
Roadbook
The layout and final draft of the Roadbook was completed between June and July 2025 Any important changes occurring after the Roadbook’s printing will be communicated by the Organization through timely bulletins or briefings. Possible small variations or sudden obstacles are all part of the game and will have to be dealt with by the crews autonomously.
The pages of the Roadbook concerning the directions for the itinerary are progressively numbered for each Sector and show the total number of pages of each Sector. Please check for possible mistakes and/or omissions that may have occurred during layout. The distances indicated have been measured using GPS BLIZZ TRIPY II and confirmed using Atlas and Google cartographies.
The measured mileage could be slightly different from the one calculated by the trip masters with a probe mounted on classic cars, but not excessively dissimilar from the initial one. Each crew will receive a copy of the Road book during the Drivers’ Briefing; its eventual loss will cost CHF 100,00.
Chronometers and Tripmasters on board the cars for measuring and recording times and distances
CHRONOMETERS
Timekeeping on board the cars for regularity trials shall be carried out with fully mechanical or analogue stopwatches with hands or digital.
It is prohibited to use:
- any instrument allowing the countdown of the seconds of the time set in the event;
- any form of scanning (e.g. sound, optical, electric vibration, etc.) capable of transmitting directly from the clock (even if of a permitted type) to the driver or navigator, the rhythm and frequency of the passing seconds. The only scanning permitted is that generated verbally or mechanically (e.g. the tapping of the hand on the dashboard) by the navigator, drawing the cadence exclusively from the optical reading of the hands or numbers running on the stopwatch.
- headphones, earphones and intercom systems.
- The use of mobile phones, tablets or similar, and of any applications is prohibited.
TRIPMASTER:
Distance measurement in cars is only permitted using mechanical, electro-mechanical tripmaster devices or smartphone apps.

Official Time and Departure Time
- The synchronisation of the timing systems is UTC (GPS).
- The official starting time for each stage will be published on the Race Notice Board at the start each day. This is not an official schedule and is therefore not subject to penalties. However, it is strongly recommended that you adhere to it to help ensure that the event runs smoothly.
Ladies’ Cup
- The start of the participants is n.1 car every minute
NextGen Cup
- The start of the participants is 1 car every minute
Julius Baer Rally
- The start of the participants is 2 cars in the same first minute (start every 30 seconds)
Regularity stages
Sectors Time Control – T.C. (Time Control)
Each sector starts and finishes with a Time Control (T.C.) every minute. This is not official and is therefore not subject to penalties. However, it is strongly recommended that you adhere to it to help ensure that the event runs smoothly.
Time Trials – R.T. (Regularity Test)
- Along the itinerary, 79 time trials are scheduled: regularity tests with an obligatory time, tests with a 1/10 second stopwatch. Every tenth in advance or delay represents a penalty.
- Timekeeping will be measured through a manostat made of a pipe, placed across the ground in the direction of traveling, connected to a chronometer that will measure the time in the precise moment the pipe is pressed by the car’s front wheels.
- Multiple time trials are a succession of tests of different duration, in which the end of a test coincides with the beginning of the following one.
- The start of the test is not fixed and therefore considered “free”; each participant will decide autonomously when to leave, within 5 seconds after the start given by the timekeeper. The detection of the target time is activated when the front wheels of the car press the rubber tube lying on the ground, connected to a stopwatch.
- The list of trials, their distances and obligatory travel times are indicated under the «Time/Distance Schedule» attached to the Road book.
- The single trials are indicated with a Yellow Notice Sign placed at a distance within 25-300 m from the Red Sign indicating the detection timeline; the Beige Barred Sign shows the end of the detection time area. In multiple time trials shorter than 300 m, the Yellow Notice Sign and the Beige End Trial Sign will not be used. In the road stretch between the Yellow Sign and the Beige Sign, it is forbidden to stop the car, except in cases of car failure; in that case, the car will have to be moved in order to avoid obstructing the following cars.
- Leaning out of the cars is forbidden. Such behaviour will be subjected to sanctions.
- It’s forbidden to block or obstruct another participant’s passage and/or impair other crews passing the trials/ stopwatch area.
Average Speed Trials – Z.R. (Average Speed Trial)
- Average Speed Trials (Z.R.) are sections of the route in which a predetermined average speed must be maintained, as indicated in the Times and Distances Table and in the Roadbook.
- The start and end points are indicated in the roadbook and on site with a red sign.
- Measurements will be taken at secret points to check that the assigned speed has been maintained constantly since the start. (The speed at that point is not measured, but rather the average speed since the start).
- The transit time will be measured to the second, rounded down, using the GPS Tracker equipment installed during the pre-race checks. No disputes are allowed against this measurement.
- The number of secret measurements is indicated in the roadbook and in the Times and Distances Table.
- There are NO measurements in the first 500 metres from the start, which are used to bring the car up to the set speed to be maintained.
- STARTING PROCEDURE: near the start of the stage, you must stop at the yellow sign and wait for the race official to give the start signal; the start of the stage is indicated by the red sign a little further on, which you must pass without stopping.
- It is strictly forbidden to stop at the red sign in order not to compromise your stage result.
Stamp Control – C.T./D.K. (Control in Transit)
These consist of transit controls along the route. On arrival at the control, the time card must be shown where a stamp will be placed by the race official
Opening Time of Detection Areas
Timekeepers’ detection areas will be active 15 minutes sharp before the hypothetical passage time of the first participant.
No exceptions are admitted and those cars arriving before the scheduled start time of the trial will have to wait for its official opening without hampering the circulation.
Closing Time of Detection Areas
Detection Areas of timekeepers will remain active for 15 minutes beyond the hypothetical passage time of the last participant.
Penalties
The distribution of penalties will occur according to the following criteria:
- Time trials (R.T.) at the tenth of a second:
- 1 point for each tenth of a second in advance or delay with reference to the obligatory time, up until a max of 300 penalties.
- 500 penalties for not doing a time test.
- Time controls (T.C./Z.K): not subject to penalties
- Stamp Control (C.T./D.K.):
- The absence of a stamp on the timetable is equivalent to non-transit and carries 500 penalties.
- Car Stop between the Yellow Sign and the Beige Barred Sign:
- 100 penalties, Time Controls (T.C./Z.K.) and Stamp Controls (C. T.) non included, where you need to stop for the timekeepers/marshals to make a note on the Traveling Schedule.
- Passage through a control in the opposite direction:
- Exclusion from the ranking.
- Traveling Schedule:
- Missing delivery of the schedule at the end of each stage will be considered as «withdrawn» and will determine the exclusion from the stage ranking.
- Infringement of traffic laws and unsportsmanlike conduct:
- Exclusion from the ranking
For safety reasons it is strictly forbidden to lean out of the windows; failure to comply will result in the exclusion from the rankings.
Every other circumstance here not indicated, but considered as a violation, will be appraised at the incontestable discretion of the Race Director.
Multipliers
In order to take into account the different performances of the oldest and of the most recent cars, penalties will be increased by applying the following multiplier: 1,XX where XX correspond to the last two numbers of the car’s production year and 2,XX where XX are the last two digits of the year of manufacture for cars built from 2000 onwards
Example:
car year 1957
coefficient 1.57
net race penalties 250
total penalties for ranking purposes 250×1,57=392,50
Safety
For safety reasons, it is forbidden for drivers to take part in the race alone; i.e. they may participate in the event, but will be excluded from the rankings.
Rankings
Based on the penalties calculated according to the various multipliers, the following rankings will be drafted:
Ladies’Cup
- Overall ranking of penalties only without coefficient 1.XX car year
NextGen Cup
- Overall ranking of penalties only without coefficient 1.XX car year
Julius Baer Rally
- Overall ranking with 1.XX or 2.XX multiplier (XX = last two numbers of car’s production year)
- Ranking for each group with 1.XX or 2.XX multiplier
In the event of a tie, the best result after the first time trial will prevail. In the event of a persistent tie, the following time trials will be taken into account.
The participants can consult the rankings on the site of the Italian Federation of Timekeepers https://www.ficr.it (select the race in question, stage times, the name of the competitor).
During the competition, the results and rankings will also be accessible via a link on the homepage of the website www.passione-engadina.ch
Protests and Complaints
The participants can request a time check in case they deem their assigned times not corresponding to their performance. The request, in writing only, must be submitted to the Race Direction using the appropriate form attached to the Road book; it may also be made informally by telephone.
Requests must be sent to the Race Direction for each single day of the race within 30 minutes of the publication of the latest results on the Notice Board.
Complaints concerning obstacles, obstructions or other hindrances that could arise during the tests will not be accepted and will have to be dealt with autonomously and deftly by the crews, always paying the maximum attention to the traffic laws and with the awareness that difficulties are part of the game. Marshals along the itinerary will take note of such episodes.
The evaluation and result of the requested check are at the incontestable discretion of the Race Direction that operates with the Rankings Office. No other complaints will be admitted due to the nature of the event.
